Mary Theu Foundation refuge is based in Lilongwe, Malawi, with support staff working Monday to Friday, 8am–5pm, with a 24/7 out-of-hours on-call service available after this time.
The refuge provides safe temporary accommodation (maximum 6 months) for women and children who have been victims of domestic abuse. We have 18 furnished rooms, plus additional communal areas, lounge, laundry facilities, garden, and car park — some facilities for residents, professionals, and staff.

Be part of a transformative mission to ensure every woman survivor of domestic abuse has access to a safe and stable place to call home. Through this campaign, we bridge the critical gap between temporary refuge and permanent housing, empowering survivors to journey from Victim to Survivor, Refuge to Dispersed Housing, Independent Accommodation, and ultimately, to Home Ownership. Together, we can create lasting change and a brighter future for those in need.
